Stellaris robots not upgrading to droids. It does not don't replace the pop (Droids used to be different from robots before, but it was a long time ago). This way I can enjoy the benefits of having smart enough robots that can populate worlds I do not like and not have to worry about any sort of rebellion. In my current game, I recently conquered a shit ton of territory in a war, and one of the Empire's had three robot pops, however since I have Synth's as citizens they were basically just dumb and obsolete golems that I didn't need to keep, I wanted to upgrade them, but it's not possible, so I just had to scrap them. Quit the game prior to researching the robot upgrade to droid and am wondering at what point do "Mechanical Robots and Droids, Slaves, Serviles and (AFAIK) Prepatents, and of course Bio-Trophies, are limited in terms of what Jobs they can hold, although Slaves can hold a wider range of Jobs if set to Indentured Servitude, and while Robots can be only Farmers or Miners, once you upgrade them to Droids they can hold a wide range of Jobs but not all.
